Would you buy the skycar even if it drove itself giving you no control?

There is a Flying car being made and apparently you wont be able to drive it, it will be entiraly self driven, in my opinion it just wouldnt be the same, i would much prefure to drive it and run the risk than having computers run it, what do you think?Would you buy the skycar even if it drove itself giving you no control?
Not me. I can barely stand to ride in an airplane that I'm not in control of, or at least in the cockpit of.

We're many years from having flying cars that are autonomous, at least in numbers great enough to make them practical. The technology is there, but the supply and demand isn't.

An automated train or subway is one thing, but it will take a lot of convincing to get John Q. Public to buy and use them. One good thing will be that people can talk on their cell phones and not be a danger to the rest of the traveling public. (assuming a computerized flight attendant doesn't say to turn them off)Would you buy the skycar even if it drove itself giving you no control?
I would never get a chance to buy one, or even get a rental.

They will never happen. Companies might develop a prototype model (and have), but no aero regulation authority in the world could allow them to seriously get off the ground!

If you want to know why, just go to the ';repairs and maintenance'; category here in ';cars and transportation';, and read the questions.

You will come to realise how many people know absolutely nothing or next to nothing about mechanical machines or keeping them in order.

So there they are, flying along in their flying car and suddenly the engine stalls. Do they coast to the nearest cloud, and call for cloudside assistance? Does the service guy arrive, and having determined the owner forgot to add gas, give him enough to get to the next gas station? All the while, the kids in the back are being difficult, as they resent being shut up in the family car and stuck by the side of the cloud.

Don't kid yourself. One small problem and you're dead. It wouldn't matter if it was being controlled manually or by a computer.

If you want to fly, go get a pilots' licence. At least in a helicopter or light aircraft if you run short of fuel, you have a chance of surviving it. You might also get to understand the rules and regulations that need to be applied and followed to be allowed and able to take to the air, and why they are there.

Flying cars will remain in the realms of science fiction and fantasy.
i would take the risk of trying it, only if it has collison detection. because i drive around 1 hour to work on 3rd shift and i get very sleepy driving to work and driving back from work. so i wouldnt mind having an auto pilot flying car, plus the only thing to worry about it birds, ufos, other cars, planes, sky divers, and bird droppings. compare to ground cars you have many many more to worry about when driving.
Honestly, if the way people drive now on roads, would you want them flying around in skycars? No way. Besides, most of these people would be buying it probably to save time and wouldn't want to be involved with learning nor using navigation techniques. Furthermore, if the skies are full with skycars, computer traffic avoidance and route finding would be safer than people looking for other traffic.
No, I can't even afford a Tesla.

But these skycars are really neat, and I wouldn't mind renting one for longer trips.

The vision of these two California companies is awesome.

(I am reminded of the quote by an IBM exec that there would be a world need for only two or three mainframe computers at most.)
the autopilot doesn't get tired, is more precise and almost never makes mistakes taking the human errors out of the loop. It frees the passengers to do other things. Also, the skycar will never work practically.
yeah, less wrecks, and easier to get places... think of it like would you ride on a elevator if you couldn't control it, oh wait we cant and there provably would be emergency buttons
no. i would hack it
