I have no control over my emotions. Are these things normal?

Even the smallest things can put me in a really good mood or a really bad mood. Is this normal? Because I get sad really easily sometimes, and there's little I can do to get rid of the sad feeling.

Oh, and with the foresight that people will suggest bipolarity, I AM NOT BIPOLAR!!! My ';highs and lows'; are more extreme than normal people's, but they aren't as bad as bipolarity.I have no control over my emotions. Are these things normal?
Your Top Contributor (TC) status is good for the next week, and you will be tagged as a TC anytime you hit a certain number of points in a given time period. Doesn't matter which category you get TC in, TC will be attached to you for the designated time period.

Onto your mood issues. Have you made any connection between your moods and your foods? That may sound like a strange question, but many folks are finding that their moods take a nosedive when they eat certain foods. The most likely culprit(s) would be high sugar intake, or certain processed foods. Many people are very sensitive to MSG (monosodium glutamate), and will get reactions as varied as headaches, mood swings, nausea, restlessness, brain fog, and more. There are so many artificial ingredients in processed foods that are neurotoxic and cause symptoms like you describe. Likewise, too much sugar will burn off amazing amounts of B vitamins as well as certain minerals and will leave your nervous system (your brain is part of your nervous system) struggling for homeostasis.

Pay attention to what you are eating. Keep a food diary if you cannot keep track of your food/mood status otherwise. Get a bottle of B100 vitamins, and when you are feeling a bad mood pull you down that you cannot account for, take two B100s and wait an hour or so to see if your mood shifts at all. The B vitamin is a good idea to take on a daily basis if you eat a lot of processed or sugar-laden foods. It will help minimize the mood swings.I have no control over my emotions. Are these things normal?
Yep, that sounds normal to me. Congratulations, you have emotions! Everyone has bad moods and good moods, and those moods can be VERY bad and VERY good. Even behaving in ways consistent with mental disorders does not mean that you HAVE a mental disorder. Nor does it mean you have to take pills which will flatten your emotional spectrum, removing the highs and lows.

These highs and lows are normal, and part of maturity is learning to master your emotions so that you control them and not the other way around. It takes a long time to master your emotions, but you can do it. Give it time. Good luck!
depending on how long the feelings last, I would say that there is not much of a problem. However if, when something makes you sad, you cannot shake the depressed feeling for a week or more, you may have a problem with a depressive disorder. (from you're description a light one to be sure). Although if it is not negatively impacting your life I would suggest not to worry about it all that much. Emotions are not a bad thing, contrary to what people try to say these days
I would say not normal.

';A hyper-emotion theory of psychological illnesses is presented. It postulates that these illnesses have an

onset in which a cognitive evaluation initiates a sequence of unconscious transitions yielding a basic

emotion. This emotion is appropriate for the situation but inappropriate in its intensity. Whenever it

recurs, it leads individuals to a focus on the precipitating situation and to characteristic patterns of

inference that can bolster the illness. Individuals with a propensity to psychological illness accordingly

reason better than more robust individuals, but only on topics relevant to their illness. The theory is

assessed in the light of previous research, a small epidemiological study of patients, and 3 empirical

studies.';
you do have control over your ';emotions,'; You recognize them, and dont act on ideas that you realize are based on flawed perceptions.
whoa, even the top contributors have issues!

Do something about it.
