Explain how Jews had no control over their own destiny during the Holocaust?

Im reading a book called Night by Elie Wiesel. I have a question to answer for school of the ways Jew had no control of their destiny, I already have a few but im looking for a few different ones. Anyone have any ideas? ThanksExplain how Jews had no control over their own destiny during the Holocaust?
This is a contribution from Germany: Hitler's hatred of Jews was pathological, indeed. But when he came to power (legally) he set in motion a skilfully procedure of measures that aimed at (a) wiping out any kind of resistance by brutal force so that nobody DARED to resist any longer and (b)winning the majority of Germans (by providing them with jobs, by organized public labor service for young men and home service for young women and giving the Germans the feeling that he was the first politician who kept his promise to make Germany a strong country again. But he promised more: His book of 1924 promised to do away with the Jewish race, to make war - but the book was not read by most Germans.) The majority of German Jews felt they were Germans, and they loved their country.Only some of them knew that Hitler had to be taken serioulsy, and they left the country in time. The majority stayed and hoped. But they were deprived of their illusions, year after year more: As early as 1933 a Law was passed that Jewish medical doctors, lawyers and civil servants in the state were not allowed to work in their professions. In 1935 the Nuremberg Law was passed that forced every German to prove that his grandparents were christened.Marriages of ';Aryians'; and Jews were not allowed, and even sexual intercourse between partners of the ';two races'; were a crime. On November 9,1938,exactly 70 years ago, all over Germany synagogues were set afire and destroyed, Jewish shop windows were smashed, the shops were looted, and it was a day on which most Germans did not look out of their windows - a day of shame for Germany. How should, how could the Jews have control over their own destiny? Those who woke up of their peaceful dreams learned on this November day what Germany had turned into. Lots of Jews wanted to flee then, but there were not granted a passport or deprived of theirs.Another problem was to get a visa from a foreign state, and the USA did not loosen the strict immigration laws, so that there were ships which went from port to port but could not find a harbor. From 1941 on each Jew had to sew a yellow star on the left side of his or her coat and jacket. There were few persons who found real friends among the Germans who managed to help them hide. Others found a harbor overseas. But most became victims of the ';final solution'; - they had no chance against a perfect repression state and so many ';observers'; who reported to the Gestapo, the secret police.

Jews were told that there was a special town built for them, called Theresienstadt, a town with a concert hall and school and all facilities.Yes, when a Red Cross inspection came it looked fine.

Children in fine dresses playing, pupils learning, the sick in white beds

in the hospital. But when the Red Cross inspection had left, they were driven out of the facilities, had to change their clothes again, and sent to

Auschwitz. (And this ist just one name for lots of extermination camps.)Elie Wiesel ia one of the Auschwitz inmates who survived and reported about it.

I would like to express my admiration for an US Army officer who were the commanding officer of Weimar, the town of GOETHE and SCHILLER and - up a hill: BUCHENWALD Concentration camp.

This officer ordered the whole population of Weimar to march up the hill,to have a look at the horrible reality (they said they did not know of) and to put the corpses on vehicles - This should have done all over Germany !

They were forced into living a certain way and were considered a inferior race that couldn'tt make gooddecisionss for themselves. they were also forced into concentration camps with no hope of escape and no information from the outside world. They were subject to a dictator and had no say in what they could orcouldn't't do and if they disagreed they would be killed or taken away.

they were rounded up like cattle, and sent to concentration camps; if they tried to flee (and some managed) they were killed, or tortured. IN concentration camps there only 'out' would be self destrtuction, but their religion, their faith in God forbids suicide. Quite the dilemma, all they can do is wait for death, and pray for salvation.
Its was basically a certain death

you can try and try to hide but i mean so many people got caught. Anne Frank!

The other philosophy is that you control your own destiny!

Many many people escaped by smuggling themselves out.

Hope this helped

If they did not do what the Nazis told them to do they were killed on the spot. How's that for no control over their own destiny?
Here is a website that has lots and lots of information on the Holocaust:
