Should you be self conscious about a part of yourself you have no control over?

Things like a speech impediment or if you have a big nose? Some people ridicule people who have a speech impediment whilst some people think negatively of people who have a big nose thinking they are ugly or will ridicule them for their nose, which makes people very self conscious of people seeing those parts of themselves in fear of being ridiculed or receive put downs.

My question is, should you feel self conscious and fear judgements about a part of yourself you have no control over?Should you be self conscious about a part of yourself you have no control over?
learn to laugh when people say something horrid about you it gets easier with time and they only say things to hurt you so by laughing they have lost not youShould you be self conscious about a part of yourself you have no control over?
If one is selfconfident and happy within oneself it doesnt really matter what others think. I am not exactly god's gift, but I am who I am. If people don't like it, hard luck for them, it's their loss, not mine

Hi there,

It's not really a mater of whether you should feel self conscious about a part of yourself you have no control over. You just either are conscious about such parts or you are not. If you are conscious about parts you have no control over to the point whereby it makes you unhappy, then if you can you should endeavor to correct or improve such areas.

If you are not conscious about such areas then you simply live with it. It doesn't matter about other peoples opinion on the areas in concern as your the one who has to live with yourself, not for others. It is simply a personal choice.

Cheers
This is a good question. I have been self conscious about stuff like this.

My nose for example, when I was young I got beaten up and my nose was broken. Looking at it now it is straight and not a bad size, but there is something slightly odd with it from my point of view, I have never been insulted for it. People just insult me they dont usually say what is wrong with me.

I want to go get it corrected, but it will cost a lot of money I have heard people say just be happy with who your are, but it is easier said than done.
No one should feel self conscious about themselves but it doesn't mean that they won't. Everything is increasingly about the way you look so some people who don't fit the norm may feel different and therefore self conscious.

The most important thing is to not care what others (other than your friends and family) think of you and focus on the positive things about yourself.
Absolutely not. We are what we are and be proud of yourself. If people can't see past our own imperfections then that is their loss not ours. Walk tall and enjoy life. Happy New Year.
