How many of you feel like americans these days have no control over our government anymore?

correct me if im wrong, but isnt the constitution supposed to be re-vamped every 20 years to keep america from becoming like it is. And when you run for president, why do you have to believe in the ideals of that party. Why cant you run as a democrat but have ideals of that of an independent.

Our life is so controlled by government, that you cant post an oppinion on a bulletin without the FBI or other goverment corporations knocking at your door.

so i might only be 14, and i might seem imature and ignorant to many, but when will america take a stand? How many of you feel like americans these days have no control over our government anymore?
the people don't control the government. lobbyists and corporations do.How many of you feel like americans these days have no control over our government anymore?
You're not ignorant. You're very smart and informed. Glad you've realized this at a young age.

I know, we're supposed to be of the people, by the people. But I guess that's all changed thanks to GWB's (un)patriot act. That's why I'm voting for Ron Paul in '08. He's running as a Republican, but has ideas of a libertarian/constitutionalist.
I'm not aware of the Constitution re-vampping thing. I think that's what the activist judges try to do. And I don't think the FBI checks out everyone that posts opinions unless they are threatening. But I'm on board with Americans taking back control of the government.
There's no 20 year re-vamp rule.

The party thing is so that people can categorize you. It's not a good thing, but it is how the system is set up. They take a general stance on your views and then label you as a Dem or a Rep. Then they add in the wing you are on left for liberal and right for conservative. If you are middle of the road they call you a ';moderate';.

I don't know the exact issues that make you lean towards each side of the spectrum but I am sure it's probably abortion, taxes, and the death penalty or something like those.
