How come governments seem to have no interest in population control?

With all the talk of global warming and carbon footprints, why isn't any attempt being made to control the worlds population? The United States now has 300 million people and it's expected to grow to 500 million within a few years. How come governments seem to have no interest in population control?
IT SHOULD BE . AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED , OVER POPULATION IS THE NO. 1 REASON WHY THE WORLD IS IN THE SHAPE IT IS IN NOW . NO. 2 IS RELIGION AND 3 IS PAROCHIALISM.How come governments seem to have no interest in population control?
China is a country that proscribes the number of children a family may consist.Population is a major problem in that a point may be reached where the needs to exist is greater than available resources for survival.Would United States be able to meet the needs of a population of 500 million might be sustainable only by controlling resources such as food, medical, etc.
It's a taboo subject. Traditions in most cultures are designed around the assumption of an unlimited capacity for new people, and it is unthinkable to state the obvious: that there are limits.
Dude not even 20% of the US is populated by people. Its only in big cities that you see a lot of people but if you go to the midwest you can drive for hours and hours without seeing another human being.
War is the answer to population control.
