Just wondering if it's really neccesary to have birth control. Always will use a condom but does my girlfriend need to use pills to make things safer? Is it ok to have sex with a condom but no birth control?
it would make things safer but its not a necessary thing :) just as long as you use a condom! Is it ok to have sex with a condom but no birth control?
Me and my boyfriend have only ever used condoms and never got pregnant - but we have had 2 or 3 times when the condom has split in about 2 years, which obviously is a risk. Generally, condoms are 97% effective and birth control is 99% so it's better protection, but if you know how to put a condom on right like squeezing the top and everything, and especially if you use the thicker extra safe ones that are less likely to split the effectiveness is about the same. It really depends whether you think the one in about 500 chance of getting pregnant is worth taking.
Condoms prevent pregnancy and STDs. However, they're not as effective at preventing pregnancy as birth control.
Birth control, when taken as directed, is typically 99% effective (1 baby for every 100)
Condoms, when used correctly, are 97% effective (3 babies for every 100). However, typical effective (meaning for most people) is actually 86% (14 babies for 100).

it would DEFINITELY make things safer. But remember a condom is 99.9% precent effective. very little chance of getting pregnant there, just be careful that you're always using it correctly, they can sometimes slide right off or break, but it's not THAT common. Just be careful with them! Enjoy :)
My husband is a condom baby, and the condom didn't break, the semen just went through. Good for you guys using condoms!! But if you're super serious about not getting pregnant, I'd use pills too. Then you're twice as likely not to get pregnant and you both can breathe a little easier!
Yes. Condoms break, slip and leak frequently. The safest thing for the two of you to do is use condoms and have her on birth control pills. Unless you want to run the risk of getting pregnant...it's like your playing Russian Roulette.
if shes on the pill it will be way safer and a less chance of her becoming pregnant. theres a chance that the condom might break and she could become pregnant.
Yes you can use a condom without the pill. Kudos for at least using some form of protection.
yes using a condom is also a safe way to avoid pregnancy
Yes as a condom may split, they're not 100% effective
You need back up. Condoms break or can fall off. If you do not want a baby you need to use another type of protection.
