Why does my dog have no bladder control after being spayed?

I just had my 4 pound 6 month old dog spayed. Prior to this, she was totally house trained. She peed and pood in a litter pan with dog pellets. Now after her surgery, she does not even know when she is peeing. She even peed laying right on me. For 6 months she never missed her box. She will go to her box to poop, but not to pee. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Why does my dog have no bladder control after being spayed?
Sometimes this does happen. Give her a little time hun, she will be just fine.

When your vet calls for the 7-day post surgery update let them know what is going on. As long as she is eating, drinking, and acting as normal otherwise no need to worry.

It is also advised to bring in a urine sample into the vet's office for an urinalysis (UTI's are one side effect of spaying) if the symptoms continue...Why does my dog have no bladder control after being spayed?
We had a similar situation with our small dog after she got spayed. She was also totally potty trained and afterward it seemed like she had lost it all. She wasn't as bad as it sounds like you have it, she never peed in our lap or anything like that. I am not sure if the surgery damaged some nerves or what caused it buy we just went back to what we did during potty training her, giving her treats when she went in the right place. It took a few week but it got better and she was back to normal in about a month.

Good Luck!

The bladder is sometimes manipulated during surgery, since it is in the way. This can cause some incontinence for a few days to a week. If she isn't back to normal by then it could be a urinary tract infection or incontinence.
My dog uses a litter box to. She stopped using it after she was spayed...we had to reteach her to use it. Her hormones are off balance. Give it a few days and if she doesnt improve go see a vet. Then reteach her.
She's fine, but maybe you should call the vet, it might make you feel better hearing it from a professional!
Yes it's called spay incontinence, and is quite common after some spays in dogs.

Ask your Vet about it.
Maybe you should be patient, it might work. If not go to the vet. :)%26gt;-
Give her a few days. If this continues, call the vet.
